A musical benefit on Friday raised $1,500 for the center, said Dr. Dell Hitchcock, director of the Lyric League, an adult choral group based in Athens that performed alongside the Classic City Dance Band for the event.
Hitchcock was compelled to help after she learned how Craig Butt, a Oconee County business owner, overcame drug addiction in a year at The Healing Place.
"I was so impressed by what The Healing Place had done for him that I wanted to do what we could to help," Hitchcock said.
