Lyric League's annual benefit concert for Relay for Life at Winder First United Methodist Church is scheduled for Friday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Twenty talented actors and singers will present the premiere of Dell Hitchcock's newest musical for all ages, "Glinda's Magical Reform School." In this merry romp, an unlikely assortment of fairy tale and nursery rhyme 'villains' have been sentenced, and Glinda the Fairy must rehabilitate them. The self-absorbed Glinda must make the villains respectable by teaching them how to make friends, cooperate, conform, and delegate. Her methods are unorthodox, and her students are rebellious, but Glinda succeeds in spite of herself, and they all live happily ever after. Children will enjoy the funny characters, and adults will appreciate the satire.
The songs include "Villain Rehabilitation," "What is a Friend," "Facespace," "Snobbery and Bigotry," "Namby Pamby Fairy," and "Honey Do List." The brief musical will be presented as Readers Theater and will include a slide show with Dell's colorful illustrations of the characters. More information is on our website
